How is the socket made?
The part is made with HP’s patented Multi-Jet Fusion technology (MJF) in Nylon 12 material. This is the same technology used by aerospace companies to put satellites into orbit, medical devices to save lives and aid surgeons, and automotive companies to keep production lines moving. The MJF technology is the world’s fastest 3D printing technology for detailed parts using real thermoplastic material. The print technology uses a powdered nylon plastic, laid out in 80 micron layers, and fully melted using heat and special fusing agents.
The last step in the process is inserting and gluing two stainless steel pegs. The result is a strong and functional replacement piece. A set of instructions is included with the repair kit.
